As a young cellist, I understood that if I wanted to master the great cello repertoire, my technique needed to be flawless. Determined, I searched tirelessly for a teacher who could help me achieve this goal. That search led me to Alexander Fedortchenko, a former student of Kosolupov and classmate of Rostropovich.
Fedortchenko shared with me this remarkable chordal method, based on arpeggios and seventh chords with extended inversions. In a short time, my shifting, intonation, and overall technique improved dramatically. Suddenly, even the most challenging repertoire became approachable with ease and precision

Years later, I began sharing this method with my advanced students. Initially, I scribbled pieces of it on scraps of paper. However, I realized that this invaluable knowledge should not remain a secret. It needs to be preserved and passed on to future generations of cellists.
